Water Leak Detection
Our Primary Products for Leak Detection are Manufactured by RLE, the Leader in General Facility Monitoring and Leak Detection for Critical Facilities
- Water Leak Detection - Three basic types exist:
- Spot detector which looks for water at a specific spot
- Zone Cable detector which looks for water at any spot along a cable and reports the cable is wet somewhere
- Distance Read Cable which looks for water at any spot along a cable and reports specifically where on the cable it has found water.
- A complete system is composed of detecting devices (spot type and/or cable type) and a control/alarm module that notifies of the leak. Some typical full systems are shown at the bottom of this web page.
- Please note we realize there are many configurations of water detection possible and some of our customers may be unsure what to order for their particular need. Please feel free to add items to your shopping cart and print a copy of the cart to forward by email or fax to us and do not complete the purchase. We can then follow up with you to ensure the correct parts are being included. You may then return to a web order or provide your credit card and shipping information by phone to complete an order. Alternately please use the complete systems section at the end of this page to order a system.

- Input power can be 24V AC or DC,
- Output is a form C non - powerd contact (NO,C,NC)
- Use the Form C contacts to report to our alarm panels, building managemant systems or any monitor that can read contact closures. (Contacts rated 1A at 24V, 0.5 amps at 120V.)
- When powered by AC an alarm condition is latched until power is removed and reset to ensure alarm is not missed if it came and cleared.
- Physical dimensions: 1.55"w x 2"h x 1"d, 7 ounces, comes with 14' cable as shown above for interface to alarm panels. Cable may be extended in the field.
- Power supply is ordered separately, if needed.
- Manual Switch not included.
-

- Typical Connection Shown Above to a Falcon Panel (purchased separately)
- Powered by the Falcon, as shown alarm will latch until power is removed and reset by either powering Falcon on and off, removing terminal block or wiring a reset switch as shown in diagram with #104609 above.
- Physical dimensions: 1.55"w x 2"h x 1"d, 4 ounces, comes with 14' cable as shown above for interface to alarm panels. Cable may be extended in the field.
-

- Typical Connection Shown Above to a LD1000 Panel (purchased separately)
- Powered by the LD Panel, If DC powered alarm will latch until power is removed and reset by either powering LD Panel on and off, removing green wire or wiring a reset switch as shown in diagram with #104609 above.
- Physical dimensions: 1.55"w x 2"h x 1"d, 5 ounces, comes with 14' cable as shown above for interface to alarm panels. Cable may be extended in the field.

- Water Leak Detection Cable, Zone and Direct Read
- You'll need the cable, a Leader/EOL resistor Kit and Hold Down Clips

- Water Detection Cable can be used in zone or direct read systems. The cable is the same. It is the attached controller that determines if it is a zone or direct read system. Cable has specific connector on each end for attachment to previous and next components. At the final end of cable run and end of line resistor plugs in. Often installations will be composed of multiple shorter lengths of cable to ease installation and smaller potential replacement if a cable ever becomes damaged or unuseable for any reason. Thus a 100' run may be (1) 100' cable, (2) 50' cables or (4) 25' cables. Custom lengths are also available. Cables are Plenum Rated CL2P. Standard lengths are:

- Each individual run of a water detection cable system requires an end of line resistor at the far end and a leader cable to allow connection of the starting end for the connection to a control/alarm panel. This comes as a kit with a 15' leader cable
and the end of line resistor.

- The cable is typically held close to the floor or surface via specific hold down clips. Clips are spaced abouut 3 to 4 feet apart and closer where turns are made.
